Kongo Stone

In contemporary stone grey, Kongo shows a linear African mud cloth motif, combining primitive Malian style with the neutral tones of European interiors. On a rustic linen blend this fabric feels earthy, bringing a relaxed, handcrafted feel and enough exoticism to transport you to far flung travels.

Printed on the edge of the Lake District using ECOFAST technology, a digital pigment printing method which uses 50% less water than traditional techniques, ensures it is also kinder on our planet.

This mud cloth design from our Gobi collection sweeps you into the extraordinary cultural heritage of Mali. Mud cloth, or 'bògòlanfini', is dyed with fermented earth from river beds and traditionally used to camouflage hunters and as ritualistic dress. Blanketed largely by the Sahara Desert, the Malian landscape is dusty in colour with sparse skeletal trees twisting low away from the burning sun. The colourways of Kongo reflect this in such a way that suits a contemporary scheme, acting as a subtle, neutral-toned backdrop to this culturally expressive pattern.
