Friendly Folk Happy Blue

Inspired by 15th and 16th century tapestries, this Friendly Folk cushion, from our Kit Kemp collection, shows bushy tailed creatures peering amongst hedgerows, blooming trees and rolling English hills. With a rich sense of folklore and the lyricism of rural land, Friendly Folk is made contemporary in vibrant blue. Handmade in the UK, filled with sustainably sourced duck feather and down and complete with snow white, vintage velvet contrast piping.

The fabric used in this design is printed on the edge of the Lake District using ECOFAST technology, a digital pigment printing method which uses 50% less water than traditional techniques.

Also available as an outdoor cushion. Shop Friendly Folk Happy Blue Outdoor.

Folk Tales

Friendly Folk, from our Kit Kemp Collection, was born when Kit stumbled upon Late Medieval tapestries at the Charterhouse in London. Dating back to 1348, this building is steeped in rich cultural history and it was the characterful faces of these woodland creatures staring out of the tapestries that fascinated Kit. They were urging her to bring them back to life in the contemporary world. She describes the collection as having "one eye in the past and one eye in the future" which is encapsulated in this design: painting a traditional toile de jouy in arrestingly contemporary colours making it bold, modern and fresh. With Wychwood wallpaper in its colour negative, these two invite you to use them together and play with layering to create Kit Kemp's signature chintz appeal.
