Friendly Folk and Wychwood, from our Kit Kemp collection, were born when Kit stumbled upon Late Medieval tapestries at the Charterhouse in London. Dating back to 1348, this building is steeped in rich cultural history and it was the characterful faces of these woodland creatures staring out of the tapestries that fascinated Kit. They were urging her to bring them back to life in the contemporary world. She describes the collection as having "one eye in the past and one eye in the future" which is encapsulated in this design: painting a traditional toile de jouy in arrestingly contemporary colours making it bold, modern and fresh.
